- Description: Will of Frederick S Bass: In the name of God amen, I Frederick S Bass of the county of Campbell and state of Virginia being of sound mind and memory considering the mortality of my body and that it is appointed unto all men once to die, I do make this my last will (and testament) written with my own hand as reflects my worldly goods and effects which god has pleased to bless me with and dispose of in the matter and form as follows.
Item, it is my desire that all my just debts be paid out of my estate I give and bequeath to my daughter Nancy H Buckley $30, I give and bequeath to my daughter Missouri Burruss $20, this with what I have heretofore given unto their possession makes them equal with their other sisters to whom I have also given into their possesion. I give to my son James Bass one kindle cow with her increase, also one choice bed and furniture, one half dozen yellow painted chairs, also $50 out of the proceeds of other property.
Item it is my desire that all my other property not heretofore given, both real and personal be sold and the proceeds thereof xxxx to be equally divided into five equal parts to Martha Petticrew 1/5th, to Nancy Buckley 1/5th, to Mary Wildman 1/5th, to Missouri Burruss 1/5th, the other 1/5th to go into the hands of Mary Wildman for the benefit of Susan Petticrew's two youngest children as she sd Mary Wildman may see the children have needs. Any claim that is made against James Petticrew is to be taken out of the 1/5 part which is to go into the hands of Mary Wildman for the benefit of Susan Petticrew?s youngest children.
I desire that any claim that is levied against any of my children by bond or etc to be taken out of their interest in the above and any claims by bond or etc against any other person or any money that I may have on hand to be equally divided amongst my four daughters, first above mentioned, after having sold apart of my Butlers tract of land to Samuel Miller and given 1 acre to the old School Baptist around Burton?s Creek Meeting House. I have sold the balance of sd Butler?s track to my son James Bass as may be seen by written contract. Lastly I do hereby constitute to Sterling Helaman and George McMillan my executors of this my last will and testament and witness where of unto I have set my hand and affixed my seal this third day of May 1845.

At a court held for Campbell County the ninth day of March 1846 the foregoing last will and testament of Frederick S Bass deceased was again presented in court fully prove about oath of Alfred G Haton, Sterling S Hileman and George Vermilion executors in said will?.
