Thomas Bassett Died Saturday
Thomas Bassett, 77 of 229 E. Arch St. died Saturday. He was born in Cornwall, England, August 19, 1877 and came to the United States in 1902 settling in the Copper Country where he worked in the mines.
He later moved to Minnesota with his family where he farmed for many years before moving to Ironwood. He retired in 1946.
Mr. Bassett is survived by his wife, six children, Mrs. Forest Dykeman of Milwaukee, Mrs. Lawrence Barrett of Flint, Mrs. Whyle Wilcox of Richmond, Va., MRs. Wilfred Mattson of Flint, Thomas Bassett Jr. of Ironwood and John Lester Bassett of Jackson, two sisters, Mabel Bassett of England and Mrs. Joseph Best of Crosby Minn., 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Wesley Methodist Church. The Rev. William N. Mertz will officiate. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery.
The Chappell-Zielinski Funeral Home will be open beginning at 3 p.m. today and until the time of the services on Wednesday.

Thomas Bassett
Funeral services for Thomas Bassett, 77, of 229 E. Arch St. were held Wednesday afternoon at the Wesley Methodist Church. The Rev. William N. Metz officiated. Interment was in Riverside Cemetery.
Pallbearers were W. L. Burns, Robert Sage, John Harris, Percy Drew, William Forsberg, and Fred Schmidtke.
Out of town relatives and friends attending the funeral included Mrs. Joseph Best of Crosby, Minn., Mrs. Ellen Gumme of Windsor, Ont., Mr. and Mrs. Forest Dykeman and family of Milwaukee, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Barrett and family of Flint, Mr. and Mrs. Wyle Wilcox of Richmond, Va., John Leslie Bassett of Jackson, Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred Matson and daughter of Flint, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Rowe of Elyria, Ohio, Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Marshall of Hibbing, Minn., Mr. and Mrs. William Towsey of Hanock, Mrs. Frank Mahoskey of Wisconsin, William Oliver of Milwaukee, and Miss Madeline Mulliner of Flint.
