Sterling Bass Dies
RICHMOND, Va., Nov. 27, (AP)
Sterling P. Bass, member of the Richmond city board of aldermen from Madison Ward, died today at his home here. He was 60 years old.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday from a local funeral home, and burial will be in the Maury cemetery.

S.P. Bass, Alderman, Dies at Home
Sterling P. Bass, member of the city Board of Aldermen from Madison Ward, died early Friday at his home, 1622-A hull St.
Funeral services will be held at 3 P.M. Sunday at the Morrissett Funeral Home, and burial will be in Maury Cemetery.
Members of the Board of Aldermen and of Common Council will beet in the Council chamber at City Hall at 2 P.M. Sunday, where a committee will bring in resolutions on the death of Mr. Bass. The Council members will attend the funeral services in a gody. A meeting of the board scheduled for last night was postponed until Monday night because of Mr. Bass? death.
Active pallbearers will be L. R. Brown, Gray Garentt, ED.C. Balalrd, J.T. Wilalrd, J.N. O?Neil, Robert Sowers, A.P. Chisholm and John Sanifer.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of City Council, members of Manchester Lodge, No. 14, A.F.& A.M. and Dr. Phil Jones, Captain A.S. Wright, W. E. Reese, Judge Willis C. Pulliam, Justice C.E. Mauriece, Fred Aiken, L.B> TGatum, J.B> Doub, A.L. Adamson, T.M. Winfree, J.B. Hancok and W. J. Fisher.
The son of S.P. and Caroline Inman Bass, Mr. Bass was born Feb. 4, 1883, in Greensville County. He was in the insurance business and later operated a clothing store in South Richmond. At the time of his death he was manager of the Southside Bowling Alleys.
Mr. Bass was elected by the board in February, 1940, as a member of that body, to succeed D. Andrew Welch, who resigned to become chief of the City Bureau of Licenses. In 1942 Mr. Bass was chosen by voters of his ward as one of their represnetatives on the board. He was chairman of the Council Committee on Docks, River and Harbor and a member of the Streets Committee.
Surviving Mr. Bass are three brothers, T.C. Bass of Richmond, and J. H. and Henry Bass, of Dinwiddie, and three sisters, Mrs. Nannie Rose, of Hopewell; Mrs. Martha Hayes, of Burrowsville, and Mrs. Susie Baugh, of Petersburg.
