Richard J. Bassett, 70, passed away peacefully on Sunday March 17th in
Houston, Texas from complications of liver cancer.
Born in St. Anthony, Idaho to Thomas Myrthen and Henrietta Mins
Bassett.
He married his high school sweetheart, Janice Remington, 50 years ago.
A civil engineer graduate of the University of Utah, he worked for Chicago
Bridge & Iron Company for 37 years in Salt Lake City, Kansas City, and
Houston. A lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints,
he served in numerous church callings, including Bishop, Stake Presiden
Regional Representative, Patriarch, Temple President and Seale
He is survived by his loving wife, Janice, his seven children, Jann
(Powell), Jill (Franklin), Curtis, Bert, Bruce, Elizabeth (Applegate), and
Sidney, along with spouses, 28 grandchildren, and one great-grandson. He is
also survived by his brothers, Thomas and Arthur Bassett, and his sister, Ann
Scott.
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 22, 2002, 11 a.m., at the
River Ridge 8th Ward, 10124 S. 1300 West, where friends may call from 9:00 -
10:45 a.m. Interment will be in Parker Cemetery, Parker, Idaho, Saturda
March 23, 2003 at 11:30 p.m. Directors - Jenkins-Soffe Mortuar
Donations may be made to the Perpetual Church Education Fund of the
LDS Church.
