      In the name of God Amen, I Simon Bass being of sounds mind and disposing memory do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament. Firstly, it is my will and desire that my Executors pay out of my Estate all my just debts. Secondly, I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Margaret during her life all my property and demands of every kind and description that may remain after paying my debts and after her death I give the above mentioned property to be equally divided between my children Benjamin, Madison, Mary Jane, James Lawrence, Sarah Eliza, Frances John and Margaret Pugh. I nominate an appoint my friends James Turner and William Whitfield my sole Executors to this my Last Will and Testament. In testimony whereof I have hereto set my hand and seal 17 Sept. 1825 Simon Bass (seal). Signed, sealed and acknowledged in presence of R. Perks, R.S. Marshall, Halifax County, Nov. Ct. 1825. There his Will was exhibited in open Court and duly proved by oath of R.S. Marshall a subscribing witness thereto and in motion ordered to be recorded Whereupon James R. Turner one of the Executors named therein came forward and was duly qualified thereto. Teste. R. Eppes Clk. Co.
