  Notes	The Virginia-Pilot, Norfolk, Wednesday, January 14 1998 Vergie J. Bass Mrs. Vergie Jones Bass, 87, died Tuesday, Jan. 13, 1998, in the Brian Center of Hertford. A native of Chowan County, Mrs. Bass was the wife of the late Rossie Seldon Bass and the daughter of the late Lucille Ashley Jones and Ernest Jones. Mrs. Bass was a retired clerk with Roses and a member of the Rocky Hock Baptist Church. She is survived by six granddaughters, Rhonda B. Dail of Tyner, Angela B. Lane of Smithfield, Va., Kathy B. Turner and Robin B. Christian of Tyner, Barbara Carol Cuellar of Edenton, Donna B. Byrum of Belvidere; 16 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Beaver Hill Cemetery by the Rev. Ron Cava. The family will receive friends from 10 to 10:45 a.m. prior the service. Evans Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
