A native of Chowan County he was born August 6, 1899, son of the late William A. and Alice Bratten Bass. Surviving is a son, W. Samuel Bass of Portsmouth, Va.; a brother, Seldon Bass of Edenton; two sisters; Mrs. Gertrude Bunch and Mrs. Florine Nixon, both of Edenton; and two grandchildren. He was a member of Rocky Hock Baptist Church where funeral services were held at 2 P.M. Tuesday with Rev. Larry McClure officiating. Burial was in the Bass Family Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Earl Smith, Marvin Smity, Murray Bass, Wayne Bunch, Raleigh Pat Harrell and Marcus Harrell. Williford-Barham Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
