Died: February 23, 2022 in Jonesboro, AR
Roberta Bass of Jonesboro, Arkansas, formerly of Rock Falls, departed this life on February 23rd, at the age of 93, after a short illness. She was born March 21, 1928 in Ogle County, to Daniel G. and Libbie (Pettenger) Raymond, of Forreston. She attended Polo Schools. Roberta married Everett D. Bass February 26, 1946. He preceded her in death on November 14, 1981.
She was employed by G. E. in Morrison, retiring in March 1990 after almost 29 years and was a member of the former Evangelical Congregational Church, where she served in many capacities. She volunteered at the F.I.S.H. Food Pantry from 1990 until 2018. She enjoyed embroidery, and made many crib blankets for family, friends and the Hope Pregnancy Center.
Surviving is one son, Richard (Janet) Bass of Jonesboro, Arkansas, one daughter, Lynette Shawver of Sterling, twelve grandchildren; Peggy (Wayne) Squire of Rock Falls, Douglas Slothower of Las Vegas, Nevada, Debbie (Shelby) Meyer of Dixon, LeAnne (Daniel) Bratton of Manila, Arkansas, Jeff (Donna) Bass of Josephine, Texas, Scott (Laura) Bass of Alexander, Arkansas, Kenneth Shawver Jr. of Sterling, Stephanie Schroeder of Sterling, Dennis Betts of Dixon and Darin Betts of Rock Fall, one brother, Lyle (Bonnie) Raymond of Freeport, and one sister, Donna Otte of Freeport, 20 great grandchildren,15 great-great, grandchildren and many nieces and nephews
Preceding her in death besides her husband and parents are two daughters; Karen Betts of Sterling, Lonna O'Donnell of Sterling; three brothers, Robert Raymond of Oregon, Benjamin Raymond of Rock Falls, Daniel Raymond of Ridot, one sister, Marguerite Dietz of Forreston, one grandson, Bradley Slothower of Rockford, and one Granddaughter, Kari Shawver of Sterling.
Funeral services will be held Saturday March 5th, at the McDonald Funeral Home on 12th Avenue in Rock Falls. Visitation will be at 10:00 A.M. at the funeral home with funeral to follow at 11:00 A.M.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to F.I.S.H. Pantry, or any Food Pantry of your choice.
