Brodia Lee Bass, Jr., affectionately known as ?Lee? to his friends, a resident of Edgewater, Maryland, passed away peacefully Tuesday, November 3, 2020. Brodia was born on January 16, 1941 in Annapolis, Maryland as one of four children of the late Brodia Lee Bass, Sr., and Helena Catherine Hyde. He was the great-grandson of several generations of Chesapeake Bay lighthouse keepers and his maternal ancestors were among the early settlers of Annapolis. Brodia attended Annapolis Senior High School where his interest in vocational skills led him to become a master carpenter and led to his future career as owner of B. L. Bass Inc., a home improvement company he managed until retirement. Brodia was a licensed amateur radio operator and enthusiast, and enjoyed speaking with his fellow operators, many who became close friends of his. Brodia was a natural musician who taught himself to play piano, organ, banjo, mandolin and harmonica. Always mechanically minded, he later in life picked up the hobby of cycling.
Brodia was an active member of the Annapolis North Congregation of Jehovah?s Witnesses spending his time conducting Bible Studies and educating others about the wonderful promises the Bible holds for the future of mankind including that of an earthly resurrection to a paradise earth.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Barbara ?Cookie? Bass, 2 daughters, Karen Bass (and her husband Joseph), Carol Bass Garrason, 7 grandsons, 1 granddaughter, and 3 great grand daughters. He is also survived by 2 sisters, Velma Lee Edelen and Helena Elsie Marsellas (and her husband Melvin), 2 nieces, 1 nephew, and his beloved dog Pico. He was preceded in death by his sister Marguerite Reed and her daughter.
Due to the current state of affairs regarding COVID 19, services will be privately held via a video invitation. In lieu of flowers please make donations in Brodia?s name to the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society, Attn: Accounting, 900 Red Mills Road, Wallkill, NY 12589-5200, or via the internet at donate.jw.org, or to Seasons Hospice via the internet at seasonsfoundation.org.
