Funeral services for Mr. Roy Curtis Bass, Sr. will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Saturday, November 14, 2020, in the Chapel of Rush Funeral Home, Pineville, with Reverends Rob McClane and Calvin Robinson officiating. Interment will follow in New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery, Calcasieu, under the direction of Rush Funeral Home, Pineville.
Mr. Bass, 88, of Calcasieu, entered eternal rest on Tuesday, November 10, 2020, in his residence with his loving family by his side.
He was a retired debit salesman from Union National Life Insurance Company and a former country music player for twenty-three years, where he was an accomplished bass player. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Calcasieu, where he played bass guitar in the church band. He enjoyed gardening and raising goats, chickens, ducks and rabbits.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Myrtie Bass and two brothers, Harles Eugene Hebert and L.J. Bass.
Those left to mourn his loss and cherish his memory include his loving wife of forty years, Betty Bonds Bass, of Calcasieu; two sons, Roy Bass, Jr, and his wife, Willie, of Baton Rouge and Darrell W. Bass and his wife, Julie, of Calcasieu; five daughters, Brenda Salard and her husband, Joe, of Marco, Donna Stracener, of Pineville, Peggy Gunter and her husband, John, of Calcasieu, Melvina Horton and her husband, Gordon, of Elmer and Sharon Bass, of Calcasieu; two sisters, Peggy Ruth Willis and her husband, David, of Calcasieu and Katie Pyle and her husband, Gene, of Winterset, IA.; six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
A time of visitation will be held at Rush Funeral Home, Pineville, on Saturday, November 14, 2020, from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.
