Joint Services Held for Couple Killed in Crash
Joint funeral services for Mr. and Mrs. Louis J. Bass of Calcasieu were held Monday at 2 p.m. in the New Hope Baptist Church with Revs. Al Gaspard, Oscar Dyess, B.G. Dyess and Ed Smith officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery under direction of Ardoin Funeral home of Oakdale.
The couple died as a result of a two-car accident 12 miles west of Glenmora at the crossroads at Mrs. Green Johnson?s store in Ward six. Mrs. Bass, 58, is the former Mertie Goodman.
They are survived by three sons, Roy C. Bass of Alexandria, L.J. Bass of Bossier City and Eugene H. Bass of Portland, Oregon; two daughters, Mrs. Peggy Giles of Glenmora and Mrs. Katie McGee of South Dakota; and six grandchildren.
Mrs. Bass is also survived by four brothers, Millard Goodman and Elmer Goodman, both of Calcasieu, Lewis Goodman of Baton Rouge, and Curtis Goodman of Alexandra; two sisters, Mrs. Minnie Hebert of Calcasieu and Mrs. Mamie Wright of Elmer.
Pallbearers were Charles Robinson, Troy Sanderson, Leland Sanderson, Clinton Bass, Freddie Bass and Don Bass.
Mr. Basis also survived by three brothers, Jessie Bass of Oakdale, Jim Bass and Henry Bass, both of Calcasieu; and two sisters, Mrs. Calvin Dousay and Mrs. Garner Sanderson, both of Calcasieu.
Pallbearers were members of his Sunday School Class: Willard Cudd, Carl Barton, Millard Banton, John Dousay, Joe Stokes and James Stokes.
