Doris Mae Hilliard Bass

Doris Mae Hilliard Bass passed away peacefully Sunday, Feb. 7, 2010, with her sons by her side. Services will be 10 a.m. Feb. 10, Wednesday at the Latin American Methodist Church, 1320 Webster of Waco and the Rev. Kenneth Boatman will be officiating. Interment will be reconvened at 2 p.m. Wed. at the Killeen City Cemetery, in Killeen. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Tues. Feb. 9, at Waco Memorial Funeral Home off of IH-35.
Doris was born Dec. 7, 1924, to G.E. Hilliard and Janie Curry Hilliard in Coryell Co., Texas. She attended Clear Creek Elementary and Killeen High School, and later married Joe H. Bass on Oct. 16, 1945. Joe preceded her in death Feb. 12, 1981. She worked at the Owens-Illinois glass plant in Waco for several years, and still enjoyed visits from her many friends and co-workers later in her life. Doris lived her life to the fullest and will be missed by all who knew her and loved her.
She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Glendell Hilliard and Pat Hilliard; sisters, Winnie Delano, Wilma Lee, Ruby Gault and Beatrice Hilliard; and nephew Stan Hilliard; a special beloved friend of many years Bobby Winningham.
She is survived by her brother, Randell Hilliard of Hamilton; sons, Nelson Bass and wife, Susie, Ronnie Bass and wife, Tanna, and Richard Bass and wife, Patricia; also by her grandsons, James Bass, Steve Bass, Ryan Bass, Gino Padilla, Joey Wayne Bass, Chris Cameron, and Danny Bass; granddaughter, Linette Hagar. Doris is also the grandmother of 10 great-grandchildren, and is a beloved Aunt Doris to many nieces and nephews, who are left to cherish her memory, her love of life and the sound of her laughter; also to cherish her memory is Bobby Winningham's daughter, Wendy Mclennan.
Doris will be greatly missed by all who loved her.
