Blanchard-Bass
Ridgedale Baptist Church in Chattanooga was the setting for the wedding of Miss Nancy Mardell Blanchard and William Thomas Bass at 7 last evening. Dr. R. Raymond Lloyd officiated at the ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Maurice Blanchard of Ramapatnam, South India, formerly of Chattanooga. The bridegroom is the son of Dr. and Mrs. William Wilson Bass of Jefferson City.
The bride was given in marriage by her uncle, Carl Hagaman. She chose a gown of white peau de sole embroidered with imported Alencon lace and seed pearls. Her veil was held by a taffeta cudhess rose accented with lilies of the valley. She carried a crescent bouquet of orchids and stephanotis accented with pearls.
Miss Carol Blanchard of Atlanta was her sister?s maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Miss Freda Brown and Miss Peggy Perkins both of Chattanooga, Miss Nancy Smith of Cleveland, Tenn., and Miss Esther White of Bassett, Va. They wore floor-length gownes of white shantung and white miniature pillbox hats. They carried bouquests of antique gold satin grape clusters centered with white poinsettias trimmed in gold leaf.
John Meyers of Houston, Tex., was his cousin?s best man. Ushers were Charles Bass and Henry Blanc, both of Jefferson City, and Jim Shillington and Danny Hagaman, both of Chattanooga.
Following a reception, Mr. and Mrs. Bass left for wedding trip to Jekyll Island, Ga. They will make their home at 1303 White Ave.
The bride was graduated from Carson-Newman College where she wwas a May Court attendant, secretary of the student government, vice president of the junior class and a member of Calliopean Soceity. She is now attending U-T. The bridegroom was graduated from Carson-Newman, where he was a member of Blue Ken National Honor Fraternity and received math and leadership medals. He is attending U-T.
