He was a native of Chowan County, N.C., and the husband of Mrs. Lola Mason Bass. He was a retired salesman and a member of Courtland Baptist Church. Other survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Glenda Blythe and Mrs. Marilyn Crowder of Courtland; three sons, Wilbur Lews Bass Jr. of Emporia, Bonnie Reed Bass, and Charlie Melvin Bass of Courtland; three sisters, Mrs. Eula Bradshaw and Mrs. Imogine Perry of Franklin, and Mrs. Doris Hennamon of Providence Forge, Va.; two brothers, Edward L. Bass and Kader R. Bass jr. of Courtland; and 12 grandchildren. A funeral will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in Riverside Cemetery, Courtland, by the Rev. Edmund Ellis. Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, has charge. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
