John Q. Bass Taken In Death
John Quinton Bass, Route 1, Edenton, died at his home Thursday night after an illness of two years. He was 82.
A native of Chowan County, Mr. Bass was a retired farmer and commercial fisherman.
He was a son of the late Augustus and Mittie Halsey Bass and the husband of Mrs. Elizabeth Smith Bass, who survives.
Also surviving are three sons; John Linwood Bass of Sunbury; Murry Bass, Route 1, Edenton; and Howard C. Bass of Rockville, Md.; three daughters; Mrs Blanche Herrin of Denver, Tenn.; Mrs. Dorothy Brickle of Nags Head; and Mrs. Madeline Fleetwood, Route 2, Edenton; there brothers; Carey, Loloyd and Lindsay Bass, all of Edneton; and six sisters; Mrs. Sadie Hollowell, Mrs. Lizzie Pierce, Mrs. Agnes White, Mrs. Lessie Layton, Mrs. Lena Bunch and Mrs Cora Evans, all of Edenton, 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was a member of Rocky Hock Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held at 3 P.M. Saturday in Colonial Funeral Chapel with Rev. Larr McClue officiating. Burial was in Beaver Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were: Joe Bass, Craig Bass, Walter Herrin, Jule Herrin, Jack Brickley, Tommy Fleetwood, Jimmy Fleetwood and Steve Gaydica.
