Buck Hobson Bass
On Tuesday, April 28, 2020, Buck Hobson Bass, faithful follower of Christ and devoted family man, entered into rest at the age of 94 at Bleckley Memorial Hospital in Cochran, Georgia after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer?s. Private graveside funeral services will be held Thursday, April 30, 2020, at 3:00 P.M. in Pulaski-Bleckley Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Bass was born in McRae, Georgia on January 5, 1926 to the late Frank Bass and Pearl Stovall Bass. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jean Curtis Bass, his sister, Ruby Henry , his daughter, Sheryl Grimes, his son-in-law, Glen Chance, his grandson, Kevin Grimes, and his granddaughter, Trinia Anderson Fountain. Mr. Bass served in the Army during World War II. Afterward, he enjoyed a career in the wholesale grocery industry. He managed Hatcher Wholesale Grocery in Cochran Georgia, and retired from Modern Grocery in Macon, Georgia. He was a dedicated servant to the Lord and an avid reader of the bible. He was a member of First Assembly of God in Griffin, GA, where he volunteered daily and was the 2004 Father of the Year. Mr. Buck lived his final years in the care of the loving staff of Green Meadows in Cary, Georgia. He found great joy clapping along and worshipping with the many community volunteers from area churches who visited the facility regularly.
The family of Mr. Bass would like to give a heartfelt ?thank you? to his devoted caregivers at Green Meadows. Special appreciation is granted to Karen Fordham for her love and support.
Survivors include his daughters: Barbara Chance and Teresa (Jerry) Anderson of Cochran, and Diann (Robert) Harrison of Dudley, his son-in-law, Wendell Grimes of McRae, eighteen grandchildren, and many great and great-great grandchildren.
