  Notes	Sudden Death of E.D. Bassett, Contractor A well-known and highly respected contractor and builder of Oakland, E.D. Bassett died suddenly on May 25 while standing at the corner of Eighth and Washington streets, in this city. Heart failure was given as the cause of death. Mr. Bassett was born in Rustico, Prince Edward Island, about seventy years ago, and has been a resident of California for thirty-five years. He was one of our best known builders and at the tme of his death had just completed a number of residences in the Fruitvale district of Oakland. Surviving the deceased are one sister (Margaret) Mrs. M.C. Egan, residing at 601 Hobart street, Oakland, and one daughter, Mrs. J. Kelley, of Calistoga, Calif. The funeral took place from St. Elizabeth's Church, where a requiem Mass was celebrated for the repose of his soul. Interment, St. Mary's cemetery.
