Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Matthew's AME Zion Church, Kansas City; graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Leavonworth National Cemetery. Friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday at the church. Mr. Bassett was born in Monticello, Ark., and lived in this area most of his life. He was a security guard for Children's Mercy Hospital, retiring in 1980. He was a member of the church. He was an Army veteran of World War II. Survivors include two daughters, janice L. Cook and Mary A. Andrews of Kansas City; two brothers, James L. Bassett, Detroit, and Ezra M. Bassett, Kansas City, Kan.; three sisters, Agens Ricker, Battle Creek, Mich., and Louise Colbert and Ahra Greene of Kansas City; and three grandchildren.
