Miss Marjorie Bass United To Raymond Edward Jacobs in City
Miss Marjorie Rogers Bass, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Council Bass, and Raymond Edward Jacobs of Findley, Ohio, were united in marriage on Sunday afternoon, Nov. 18, at 5 o?clock at the home of the bride3 on Shenandoah Avenue. The Rev. John C. Glenn, pastor of the Duke Memorial Church, was the officiating minister at the double ring ceremony.
The home was decorated for the wedding with woodwardia fern, cathedral candles in candelabra and floor baskets holding white chrysanthemums.
The bride?s cousin, Miss Betty Jane Hedrick, was her only attendant. She wore a black dress trimmed with sequins and her corsage was of camellias.
William C. Bass gave his daughter in marriage and William C. Bass Jr., served as best man for the bridegroom. The bride wore for her wedding suit of French blue twill and black accessories. Her flowers were camellias in a shoulder corsage and her only ornament was an heirloom bracelet which was worn by her great grandmother on her wedding day.
The bride?s mother wore a black sequin trimmed dress with gardenias. The grandmother of the bride, Mrs. L.D. Rogers, wore a purple crepe dress with a gardenia corsage.
Mrs. Jacobs is a graduate of Durham High School and for the past year has been employed with the Southern Fire Insurance Company of this city.
The bridegroom is a graduate of Findlay, Ohio High School. On his return he will complete his course as a chemical engineer in Ohio State University. He was recently discharged from the service, having served with the 78th Infantry Division in the European theatre of operations.
The ceremony was followed by a small informal reception. In the dining room the bride?s table was decorated with white candles and a miniature crystal boat filled with gardenias on a mirror base. Individual cakes, nuts and lime punch were served, carrying out the green and white color scheme. Miss Lottie Bragg, assisted by Mrs. John C. Glenn, presided at the punch bowl. Only members of the immediate family were present.
Following a short wedding trip the couple will return to Durham this week, leaving for Findlay, Ohio, Dec. 1, for a visit to the bridegroom?s parents before entering college at Ohio State in Columbus, Ohio, where they will make their home.
