Frances Lila Bass, 89, of the 5800 block of Mineral Springs Road, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2010. Born in Portsmouth on Aug. 22, 1921, she was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Lillian Hurst; her husband, Ernest A. Bass Sr.; three sons, Ernest Jr., Waverly ?Gerald? and Jerry Bass; and a granddaughter, Darlene Bass, Barnes. She is survived by a son, Kenneth ?Paul? Bass Sr.; a sister, Mary E. Bond; her friend and caregiver, P.J. Bradshaw; a nephew, David Bond; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 27, in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, by the Rev. Nelson Fields. Burial will follow in Olive Branch Cemetery.
