  Notes	The Virginian-Pilot, Norfolk, Virginia, Saturday, 22 October 1994 Mary B. Bass Mary Elizabeth Benton Bass, 86, of Portsmouth, died Oct. 21, 1994. Mrs. Bass was born in Portsmouth and was the widow of Lindsay L. Bass. She was a member of Western Branch Baptist Church and was retired from Miller & Rhodes Department Store after 48 years. Survivors include a sister, Annie Benton Thompson of Portsmouth; four nieces, Diane B. Snellinger of Suffolk, Susan B. Yearby of Portsmouth, Cynthia B. Howell of Raleigh, N.C. and Eleanor Coburn of Portsmouth; and a nephew, Richard Rude of Richmond. A graveside service will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in Olive Branch Cemetery by the Rev. George F. Mullinax and the Rev. Paul Parker. The family will be at Snellings Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today.
