Mildred E. Bass, Osceola Rancher
Mildred Estelle Bass, a member of a pioneer Osceola County family, died Sunday, May 9. Mrs. Bass, of 4550 Mildred Bass Road, St. Cloud, was 92.She was a rancher. Before that, she drove a school bus for the Osceola County School System.Granddaughter Diane Jackson said Mrs. Bass enjoyed raising cattle and hunting. ''One of my girlfriends called her a female Davy Crockett,'' Jackson said.Mrs. Bass remained active in the later years of her life, Jackson said. ''She did her own work. You'd see her out on the tractor,'' she said.Mrs. Bass was born in Kenansville to Everette C. and Beulah Mae Shiver Bass. She was a lifelong resident. She was a member of First Christian Church, St. Cloud.She is survived by two daughters, Reta Crayne and Myrtle Bodiford, both of St. Cloud; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren. Grissom Funeral Home, Kissimmee, is in charge of arrangements.
