In the name of God amen, I Thomas Bass of Chesterfield County of Parish of Dale being in perfect health and of sound memory Do make and order this my last will and testament manner and form following.
Vas imprimas. Item. I give and bequeath my soul unto the hands of Almighty God who gave it to me, and I commit my body to the earth from whence it came to be interred at the discretion of Extrs. hereafter named.
Item. I gave and bequeath to my son Thomas Bass and his Heirs forever one Negro man named Adam which he has now in possession.
Item. I give and bequeath to my son Henry Bass and his Heirs forever one Negro girl name Pegg and her increase which he hath now in his possession.
Item. I give and bequeath to daughter Mary Mosley and her heirs forever one Negro boy named Jack which Richard Mosley her husband hath now in possession.
Item. I gave him and bequeath to my son Josiah Bass and his Heirs forever one Negro girl named Amey and all her increase which he hath now in possession.
Item. I give and bequeath to my son Alexander Bass and to his heirs forever the Plantation whereon I now live with the tract of Land joining to it containing 160 acres, also one Negro girl named Cate to his heirs forever. It is my will and desire that my beloved wife Mary Bass should ?.. enjoy and live on the said Plantation during her natural Life. I also listen to my beloved wife Mary Bass five Negroes namely Jammie, Tom, Frank, Eve and Bowser, and my will and desire is that all my Cattle and Hogs be equally divided between my son Alexander Bass and my beloved wife Mary, and all the rest of my personal Estate not before given away after paying my Debts and Funeral charges during her natural Life, then to be equally divided amongst all my children.
Item. I give and bequeath to my daughter Martha Perkinson and her heirs forever, one Negro girl name Temp and her increase also two cows and calves, or two cows with calf.
Item. I give and bequeath to my grandson Thomas Bass son of Thomas Bass to his heirs forever one Negro girl named Susanna.
Item. I do hereby appoint and ordain my two sons Thomas Bass and Henry Bass my Executors. Given onto my hand this 21st day of September 1765.
