Dolores Bassett
Dolores M. Bassett, 94, of Somerset was called to her heavenly home on 08/22/2023 surrounded by her loving family at Somerset Senior Living (The Heritage) Born 12/21/28 in York, PA. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Clair J Bassett to whom she was married to for 68 years; her parents Luther Wertz, Sr and Amanda (Strausbaugh) Wertz, and siblings Luther Wertz, Jr and Constance Snyder. She is survived by daughter, Gloria (Robert) Pritts, Rockwood; son, Daryl (Nancy) Bassett, Ohiopyle; grandson, Adam (Liz Diesel) Pritts of Normalville; and granddaughter, Kat Bassett (Fiancée, Greg McCoy) of Markleysburg. There was a special place in her heart for her great grandchildren, Jake, Ellic and Sawyer Pritts and Evie & Miles Diesel as they brought her many smiles and proud moments. She enjoyed joining her husband with his tours of duty in Austria, Germany & Italy and supported him in their oil delivery business in York PA and the family farm, Laurel Hill Trout Farm in Somerset. She was a member of Mt. Zion Lutheran Church in Bakersville where she served on council, past Benevolence Treasurer and altar guild for many years. She was a past member of the Bakersville Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She spent countless hours volunteering at the church, fire department and Bakersville Grove. She loved to cook and bake for her family, travel, read and visit with friends and family. She will be remembered as a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, sister-in-law and friend, and will be sorely missed. The family sends special thanks to the caring staff and nurses at Somerset Sr. Living, ViaQuest Hospice, and her dear friends, Judy & Rachelle Schrock. Viewing will be held at the Mt. Zion Lutheran Church in Bakersville from 10:00 a.m. -12:00 Noon on Monday with services immediately following at 12:00 noon with interment at Bakersville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to Bakersville Community Grove, c/o G. Pritts, 166 Rainbow Road, Rockwood, PA 15557 or Mt. Zion Lutheran Church, c/o A. Knupp, 128 Bruner Avenue, Somerset, PA 15501. Arrangements by the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Somerset.
