Mary M. Bass, 81, a resident of the Bellmead Manor, died Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2020 at UPMC Altoona.
She was born July 16, 1939 in Warriors Mark Twp., a daughter of the late Ellsworth John and Mary Elizabeth (Thomas) Steele. She was married Jan. 4, 1962 to James Thomas Bass, who died Jan. 29, 2003. She is survived by a son James T. Bass Jr. and his wife Catherine of Coalport; sisters Marjorie Ellen Mc Donald of Spring Grove, Ruby Joanne Ricketts in Bellwood, Betty Steele of Tyrone; grandchildren Crystal J. (Zimmerman) Dutil (William) of Hollidaysburg, Dakota Bass US Navy, San Diego, Calif., Larson Bass US Air Force, Cheyenne, Wyo.; great-grandchildren William Dutil and Jayden Dutil of Hollidaysburg. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Vicky J. Zimmerman, and siblings Sara Jane Noll (Nov. 11, 1992), Don Garber (Mar. 19, 2000), Paul E. Garber (July 26, 2018) and Helen Richards (July 7, 2019).
She was a graduate of Tyrone High School in 1958 and was of Catholic faith. She was a homemaker and worked in the nursing field. She always enjoyed country music, especially George Jones.
Friends will be received at the Derman Funeral Home, Inc. Saturday, Oct. 31, 2020 from 10 a.m. to the service at noon, with Fr. Jozef Kovacik officiating. Interment will be at Baughman Cemetery.
