Verna Sue Couchman (Picture included)

Verna Couchman of Vancouver, Washington, passed away on October 9, 2018 at home. She was 67. Verna was born in Wichita, Kansas to Vernon Thiesing and Odean Bassett Thiesing.
Verna attended Wichita State University and received a Bachelor?s in Nursing from University of Northern Colorado in 1977. She later completed a Master?s in Nursing from Washington State University.
Verna worked as a registered nurse at PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center in NICU, as a float nurse, and as an infection control specialist. She was a school nurse for Battle Ground School District in several different schools.
Verna enjoyed birding, and was a member of the Audubon Society. She also loved gardening, and completed the Master Gardener course work from WSU Extension. She had a long-standing interest in genealogy and family history and volunteered at the Clark County Genealogical Society. She was loved and respected by so many who knew her.
Verna is survived by her husband of 49 years, Marvin; and daughter, Vieka, both of Vancouver; sister, Vickie (Rani) Machoi of Colorado; sister-in-law, Shirley Salisbury of Kansas; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Memorial gathering is pending.
