James ?Buddy Brown? Lee Bassett
November 22, 1935 ? June 22, 2024
James Lee "Buddy Brown" Bassett, age 88, of Childersburg, Alabama passed away on Saturday, June 22, 2024.
He was a loving husband, father and a great grandfather of 3. Buddy was a God fearing man that served as an ordained deacon. He loved singing in the choir lifting his voice to the Lord.
Buddy loved everyone he met, his love was unconditional and let it be known. He spent his free time doing what he loved, hunting, fishing and camping.
If anyone asked, "what is for breakfast", his response was "rooster poots and scrambled eggs." His supper time singing was "Rabbit hash, pole cat mash and peckerwood gravy."
His loving and gentle soul will be missed by all that knew him. Not even the demon of dementia could break his spirit.
James is survived by his wife, Margaret Bassett; his sons, Dale Bassett (Tina) and Scott Bassett (Terry); his grandchildren Josh Bassett (Amy), Amber Zettler (Matt), Cassady Cloud (Codie), Drake Bassett, and Caleb Bassett; his great grandchildren Lola Bassett, Eli Zettler and Enler Cloud; and numerous nieces and nephews.
James was preceded in death by his father Earlie Bassett and his mother Mary "Evelyn" Bassett; his brothers, David Bassett and Calvin Bassett.
A funeral service will occur Wednesday, June 26, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Curtis and Son Childersburg Chapel with Brother Jimmy Wilson officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
James will be laid to rest in Greenhill Memorial Gardens.
Serving as pallbearers are Caleb Bassett, Drake Bassett, Codie Cloud, Josh Bassett, Matt Zettler and Jason Bassett.
