Pfc. L. G. Bass
Rison- The body of Pfc. Lundy G. Bass, son of Mrs. Nola G. Bass of near New Edinburg, was returned recently to Fordyce for reburial. Private Bass, who served during World War II with the U.S. Marine Corps, was returned to the States from a cemetery in Guam. He was killed on Iwo Jima April 11, 1945, while a member of the 3rd marines. Surviving, besides his mother, are four brothers, William Bass of Memphis; Marion D. Bass and George C. Bass of New Edinburg; Basil L. Bass of Strong; two sisters, Mrs. J.Y. Loflin of Junction City, and Mrs. John A. Hill of Little Rock. Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon in the Hopeville Church, near Bearden, by the Rev. A.G. Galaway. Burial was in Temperance Hill Cemetery, near Harrell, with military honors by the Dr. Rhine post of the American Legion.
