    Notes
    • Edna Hall Bassett 1911-2008

Edna Hall Bassett, 97, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2008 at Logan Regional Hospital. She was born March 11, 1911 in Wellsville, Utah, a daughter of LeRoy W. and Barbara Allan Hall. She was the fourth child born into a family of nine brothers and sisters. With the exception of the last three years, Edna spent her entire life in Wellsville and during her younger years worked alongside her father and her brothers and sisters on the family farm where she was taught and learned the importance of hard work and an appreciation for what you have. She attended the Floradell Elementary School in Wellsville and South Cache High School in Hyrum. On Oct. 11, 1929, she married her childhood sweetheart, Edward Wellington Bassett. Ed passed away Feb 25, 1978. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple. She was devoted to her family and loved spending time with them. Her home was always neat and a comfortable place to be. A home where family and friends were always welcomed. Her love of flowers was evident in the beauty of her well-kept yard. She found much enjoyment in the accomplishments of her many handiworks: rug-making, quilting, crocheting and especially her cut-work embroidery. She was working on a pair of embroidered pillow cases the day before she was taken to the hospital. These will become heirlooms for her family and her many journals will be a legacy for her posterity. She worked at the bakery at Albertson's where she retired after 11 1/2 years, enjoying the many friendships she made and the good times they had. She also enjoyed working part-time at Shaffer House Bakery until well into her 70's. She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints, having served in various positions in the Primary, Relief Society, choir and involvement with the extraction program of the church. She was a member of the Peter Maughan Camp of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. Her journey has been a worthy one, full of fun and delightful stops, with some rough places in the road but always marked by her conscious effort and sincere striving to do her best under all circumstances. She endured well! She is survived by children E. Norman (Cleta) Bassett, Smithfield, Utah, Carol Sue (Gary) Stauffer, Providence, Utah, daughter-in-law Dian Olsen, Centerville, Utah; two sisters Norma Demetras, Lodi, Clif., Shirley (Florin) rose, Preston, Idaho; sisters-in-law Monta Hall, Wellsville, Utah, Helen Hall, Bellvue, Wash.; brothers-in-law Dee (Betty) Bassett, Wellsville, Utah, Calvin (Lorraine) Bassett, Hyrum, Utah, Jack Bassett, Providence, Utah; nine grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren with two more expected. She was preceded in death by her husband; four brothers, Roy, Ray, Spencer and Ernest Hall, sisters, Ione Hall and Stella Archibald; a son, Dee Clayton Bassett; a granddaughter, Wende B. Miller; a grandson, Tory Olsen; and four great-grandsons, Bret Luther Yeates, Brandon Gene Yeates, Rian Brent Yeates, and Kaden Casey Smith.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 11, 2008, in the Wellsville 4th Ward Chapel, 49 W. 200 South with Bishop Don Durrant conducting. Friends may call at the Allen-Hall Mortuary from 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday and from 9 to 10:30 a.m. prior to the services at the church.
