Doris Jean Bass, 82, of Amarillo died Sunday, October 23, 2011.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in LaGrone-Blackburn-Shaw Martin Road Chapel with the Reverend Danny Lucas officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by LaGrone-Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors.
Mrs. Bass was born March 1, 1929, in Muskogee, Oklahoma. She was raised by Robert and Nell Walker in Stringtown, Oklahoma. Doris Jean married William Hendrick Bass in 1950. He preceded her in death in 1969. She worked in the nursing field in Oklahoma City and at BSA Hospital in the nursery. Doris also loved to shop.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Survivors include a son, Bill Bass and wife Angie of Amarillo; two daughters, Belinda Wartz and husband Greg of Southland and Stephanie Beck and husband Tom of Amarillo; eight grandchildren; and three siblings, Wanda Mattson of Washington, Maggie Box of Oklahoma and Haral Helton of Oklahoma.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at LaGrone-Blackburn-Shaw Martin Road Chapel.
