(Bill) Bass, 83, who was Leon County tax assessor for 20 years, died yesterday at his home, 314 Cortez Street. A native of Randolph County, Georgia, he had lived in Tallahassee for 60 years and was a salesman with Brinkley Brothers Realtors. He formerly owned and operated a hardware store. Bass was a member of First Baptist Church, Jackson Lodge No. 1, F & A.M., and the Elks Lodge and was a charter member of the Tallahassee Kiwanis Club, the Shrine Club and the Moose Lodge. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lucille Bass, two brothers, Virgil and Bradley Bass, Tallahassee; and one sister, Mrs. L. E. Davis, Sasser, Georgia. J.A. Culley and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
