ANGOLA ? Bonnie L. Bassett, 88, of Angola, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, June 1, 2017, at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
She was born on March 11, 1929, in Auburn, Indiana, to William H. and Esther Mae (Hook) Kessler. She married Gerald Bassett on September 10, 1950.
Bonnie worked for the MSD of Steuben County for over 25 years, retiring in 1982. She was a member of the Angola United Methodist Church, Angola Moose Lodge Auxiliary and a 50-plus member of the Order of Eastern Star, Ashley Chapter. She was Past Matron of the Angola Chapter.
She enjoyed her time living at Crooked Lake. She would spend days watching birds and all the animals at the lake. She loved taking pontoon rides and sharing stories about her childhood growing up at Hollywood Landing on Crooked Lake. She relished visits by her children and their families. Christmas holidays were a complete madhouse, but she loved it!
Surviving are her sons, Larry (Betsy) Bassett of Angola, Indiana, and Michael (Mary) Bassett of LaPorte, Indiana; daughter Linda (Mike) Landram of Fort Wayne, Indiana; seven grandchildren, Brooke (Nate) Phenicie, Brittany (Tyler) Hartman, Allison (Tyler) Peat, Scott (Kara) Bassett, Alex Bassett, Megan Landram and Nathan Landram; and six great-grandchildren, Owen, Addison, Connor, Audrey, Gabrielle and Jackson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Gerald Bassett in 2004, and her grandson, Brice Bassett, in 2015.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 6, 2017, at the Weicht Funeral Home, Angola, Indiana, with Pastor Tracey Zimmerman officiating.
Burial will be in Circle Hill Cemetery, Angola, Indiana.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Monday, June 5, 2017, at the Weicht Funeral Home, Angola, Indiana, with a 7:30 p.m. Order of Eastern Star Service.
