He was 74.A Marine veteran of World War II and Korea, Mr. Bass served as the Suwannee County officer of the Veterans Administration for 28 years.Born in Suwannee County, he lived his entire life there.His civic service included coaching Little League baseball, refereeing Florida High School Athletic Association games and co-founding the Live Oak Association for Retarded Citizens, now called Comprehensive Community Services.He was instrumental in establishing the ARC group home in Live Oak.He was a past member of Kiwanis, Elks and Golden Dog lodges.He was a member of Mount Zion Christian Church near Live Oak.Survivors include his wife, Betty Bass of Live Oak; two sons, Theron Bass Jr. of Hobe Sound and Cliff "Bull" Bass of Live Oak; two daughters, Kathy Rollins of Roanoke, Virginia, and Melissa Brinson of Live Oak; a sister, Betty Jones of Gainesville; two brothers, Thomas "Buddy" Bass of Live Oak and Andrew Bass of Douglasville, Georgia; and five grandchildren.
