Grace P. Bassett
Rowley - Grace P. (Sykes) Bassett, 94, of Rowley and formerly of Harrisville, New York and Vero Beach, Florida, died Thursday, August 6, 2009 at Seaview Retreat in Rowley.
She was the wife of the late Harold E. Bassett. Mrs. Bassett was born August 18, 1914, in Fine, New York, daughter of Charles and Anna (Jones) Sykes.
Grace was retired as a cashier at the A&P store in Harrisville, New York. She was a former member of the Order of Eastern Star in Harrisville and also of the Fort Nightly Club. She enjoyed crafts, playing the piano, crocheting and bingo. She will be greatly missed by her family.
Grace is survived by her son, Richard H. Bassett of Portsmouth, New Hampshire; her daughter, Joyce E. Kent of Rowley, her sister, Ida LaClair of Marlboro; three granddaughters, Susan Merry of Rowley, Barbara Axten of Rexford, New York, and Sheila Calderwood of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three sisters, Gertrude Clark, Genevieve Lambert and Libby Hooper and four brothers; Paul, Ross, Robert and George Sykes.
