Gloria Bassett, 82
New Kensington
Gloria (Johnson) Bassett, 82, of New Kensington, died Thursday, April 2, 2015, in Good Samaritan Hospice, Wexford. She was born Oct. 22, 1932, in New Kensington, daughter of the late Elijah and Myrtle Butler Johnson. Gloria worked in the cafeteria for the New Kensington/Arnold School District. She was a member of the Ken-Ton-ion Temple 631, New Kensington. She was a Steelers and Pirates fan and also attended Abundant Life Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Sheila Ann Bassett; brothers, Kenzo Kusuyama, Bob Kuis and Fred, Reginald, Gerald and George Wallace Johnson; and sisters, Hanaka Bizins, Abigail Peterson, Shirley Brown, Vivian King and Marie Hollis. She is survived by a daughter, Darenda Bassett; sons, Ernest (Eileen) Bassett and Derek (Angel Lee) Bassett; and brother, Jerome Johnson; also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephws, cousins and friends. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on April 11, 2015 at Mt. Calvary Church, 1150 Fourth Ave., New Kensington. Burial will be private. Arrangements were entrusted to the JOSEPH J.
