Paul Franklin Bass
Paul Franklin Bass, 78, of Dunn passed away Wednesday evening April 29, 2026, at SECU Hospice House in Smithfield. He was born in Harnett County on Aug. 14, 1947, to the late Clester P. and Linnie P. Bass. He was preceded in death by a brother, David Earl Bass.
Paul served in the U.S. Army for 40 years, having served tours in Vietnam and Operation Iraqi Freedom and retired as a Chief Warrant Officer. He was a food service supervisor for the N.C. Department of Corrections for 30 years. He also owned and operated a turkey farm, Gym's Restaurant and the Greyhound Bus Station in Dunn. He served one term on the Dunn City Council. Paul loved his family and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, May 4, 2026, at 11 a.m. at Skinner & Smith Funeral Home by the Rev. Ronnie Casper and the Rev. Joe Earp. Burial will follow in Devotional Gardens.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Bass; two daughters, Julie Jackson and husband Hermon of Clayton, and Paula Bass of Dunn; a brother, J.D. Bass and wife Faye of Dunn; a sister, Mary Alice Dolkos of Erwin; and three grandchildren, Dr. Amber Jackson, Cole Jackson and Gracy-Lynn Norris.
The family will receive friends Sunday, May 3, 2026, from 5-7 p.m. at Skinner & Smith Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Trinity Lakeshore Pentecostal Holiness Church, 714 Carolina Drive, Dunn, NC 28334.
