  Notes	Daily Herald, Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, Friday, October 19, 2007 David Cecil Bass EMPORIA, Va. - David Cecil Bass, 82, of 1715 Skippers Road, Emporia, Va., died Thursday, Oct. 18, 2007, at Greensville Manor Nursing Home in Emporia. Mr. Bass was a member of Zion Baptist Church, where he was a former deacon. Mr. Bass was a retired carpenter. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Hazel Shearin Walker Bass; one sister, Marie Turner of Emporia; a stepson, Gilbert Walker and his wife, Thelma, of Littleton; two stepgranddaughters and seven stepgreat-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Hockaday Funeral Home in Roanoke Rapids is handling the arrangements, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 20, and other times at the home of his stepson, 1795 Faulcon Road, Littleton. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 21, at Zion Baptist Church in Skippers, Va. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
