Marvin Odell Bass
Bullock - Marvin Odell Bass, 73, resident of 9553 Summer Breeze Lane, died Sunday morning, November 23, 2003, in Durham Regional Hospital, following declining health. He was born in Granville County, the son of the late Lonzo Melvin and Ruby Jacobs Bass. He was preceded in death by a son, Tommy Bass. Mr. Bass was a retired employee with Northgate Fixtures, Inc. He was President of the Bright Leaf Civitan Club. He was an avid fisherman and outdoor enthusiast. Mr. Bass has been a member of three churches. He was first a member and Deacon of Bethany Baptist Church in Moriah for ten years. Secondly, he was a member of Cape Carteret Baptist Church for six years. For the past two years, he has been a member and Deacon of Bullock Baptist Church.Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Mary Plummer Bass; one daughter, Mrs. Debby Myers and her husband, Alan, of Flagler Beach, Florida; three sons, Andy Bass and his wife, Sharon, of Hillsborough, Steve Bass and his wife, Judy, of Bullock and Danny Bass and his wife, Vicki, of Durham; one sister, Mrs. Doris B. Hawley and her husband, Norman, of Durham; seven grandchildren, Bryce and Brooke Myers, Sherry Lloyd and her husband, Joel, Stephanie, Elizabeth, Brittany and Bryan Bass; and one great-grandchild, Jordan Anne Lloyd.Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Clements Funeral Chapel in Durham by the Reverend Kevin Clubb and the Reverend Michael Lea. Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery.The family will receive friends Monday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at Clements Funeral Home in Durham.The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Building Fund of Bullock Baptist Church, P.O.
