He was born November 13, 1939 in Sampson County to the late Badie H. and Lenna McLamb Bass. Mr. Bass was also predeceased by a son, William Tony Bass; brother, Earl Bass; and sister, Lois Strickland. Mr. Bass was owner and operator of Bass Repair Service. He was a member of Mingo Masonic Lodge. A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM, Thursday at Mt. Elam Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Masonic Rites. He is survived by his wife, Frances Barefoot; two daughters, Kathy Godwin and husband Joey and Denise Boggs and husband Kenneth, all of Spivey?s Corner; sisters, Dorothy Warren of Salemburg, Mallie Carlyle of Clinton, Alma Lee Rowland of Wilmington and Myrtle Wirfs of Salem, OR; grandchildren, William Godwin, Betsy Godwin Cook, Andrew Godwin, Jordan Boggs, Alex Boggs, Sierra Boggs; great grandchildren, Grady Godwin, Ruby Godwin, Caiden Boggs and Colton Boggs.
