Bass, 85 Dunn - Mr. William Howard Bass, 85, died Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at Betsy Johnson Regional Hospital. He was born in Sampson County on June 19, 1926 to the late Lonnie D. and Tempie J. Bass. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Reverend Bernice G. Bass, Newberry Bass, Crafton D. Bass, and Clarence Johnson Bass, and two sisters, Irma B. Peterson and Crotia B. Blanchard.Howard attended Coyne Electrical School in Chicago, Illinois, as well as Campbell University. He owned and operated Bass Radio and TV for over 50 years. He was a member of the Rotary Club of Dunn and was a recipient of the Paul Harris Fellow Award. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and a Sunday school teacher.The funeral will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, at the First Baptist Church with Dr. Len Keever officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.He is survived by his wife, Daisy Dean Bass of Dunn; four brothers, Dr. Shelton T. Bass of Lakeland, Florida, Lonnie Jackson Bass of Clinton, Milton Bass of Fayetteville, Carl Goerch Bass of Clinton; two sisters, Alease Bass Compton of Hendersonville, Alice Jane Royal of Salemburg.The family will receive friends Friday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church.Arrangements are by Skinner & Smith Funeral Home.
