Cheryl A. Bower, age 61, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 2, 2010, at home.
She was born on Dec. 15, 1948, in Madison, the daughter of Marshall and Gloria (Bassett) Fillner. Cheryl was united in marriage to Gary Bower on June 20, 1970, at Messiah Lutheran Church in Madison. She was a teacher at Sandberg and Kennedy Elementary Schools from 1986 until 2005. Cheryl loved to travel and to be with her friends and family.
She is survived by her husband, Gary; daughter, Jennifer (Joe) Racklin of Freemont, Calif.; son, Jeffrey (Oas) Bower of Thailand; grandchildren, Tate Bower and Mack Racklin; father, Marshall Fillner of Sun Prairie; brother, Terry (Cindy) Fillner of Madison; and nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Cheryl was preceded in death by her mother, Gloria Fillner and grandparents.
Memorial services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, on Friday, Dec. 10, 2010, at 7 p.m. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday, from 4 p.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Parkinson's Disease Foundation, 1359 Broadway, Suite 1509, New York, N.Y. 10018, or to HospiceCare Inc., 5395 E. Cheryl Parkway, Fitchburg, WI 53711.
