Mary Shaw Bass
Raleigh - Mary Shaw Bass, 86, a life-long resident of Raleigh died Saturday, March 5, 2005 at Mayview Convalescent Center. Mary was born June 4, 1918 in Wake County to the late Joseph Samuel Shaw, Sr. and Maude Buffaloe Shaw. She was a founding member of Trinity Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, William A. Bass in 1988. Surviving are her four children, son, Ashley Bass and his wife, Carolyn of Fuquay-Varina; son, Hugh Bass and his wife, Mary Lou of Raleigh; daughter, Judy Lee and her husband, John of Zebulon; and daughter, Janet Bass of Raleigh; her three grandchildren, William E. Bass and his wife, Lainey, Aaron C. Bass and his wife, Christy, and Spencer Lee; three great-grandchildren, Sara, Eric and Web Bass; and her brother, Hugh Shaw and his wife, Maude of Knightdale. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 7-9 p.m. at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 1701 E. Millbrook Road. A funeral service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in BrownWynne's chapel. Burial will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park. The family wishes to acknowledge and thank the staff at Mayview Hospice of Wake County and Outlook Point Assisted Living Center for the loving care given to Mary.
