Wilbur J. Bassett
Wilbur J. Bassett, 62, Independence, died Dec. 7, 1990, at the home. He was born in Mirabile, Mo., and lived in Cameron, Mo., before moving to this area in 1972. Mr. Bassett was a machine operator for the Barbour Concrete Co. Inc. for 16 years, retiring in April. Survivors include his wife, Nelda Bassett of the home; three sons, Dale Bassett, Harrisonville, Joe Bassett, Staten Island, N.Y., and Bobby Bassett, Gulfport, Miss.; three daughters, Sandra Jackson, Birmingham, Ala., and Donna Thurman and April McIntire of Long Beach, Miss.; two brotehrs, J. Lee Bassett, Cameron, and Harry A. Bassett, St. Joseph; two sisters, Helen McVicker, Cameron, and Corene Lewis, Burbank, Calif.; and 12 grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the New Salem Chapel; burial in New Salem Cemetery. Frriends may call from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at the chapel. The family suggests contributions to the Visiting Nurse Association of Greater Kansas City.
