  Notes	News and Observer Raleigh, North Carolina Saturday, March 14, 1953 James William Bass Dunn - James William Bass, 80, of Dunn, died at 8:00 o’clock Friday morning in the Dunn hospital. He had been in ill health for some time. Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 3:00 o’clock at the Spring Branch Baptist Church. Burial will be in the family cemetery near the home. The Reverend Richard Smith and the Reverend R.R. Gammon will officiate. The body will lie in state for one hour prior to the services. Mr. Bass was a native of Sampson County, son of the late Lewis Henry and Penny L. Ingram Bass. For the past several years he had held a position with the Dunn Hatchery. Surviving are three sons, James F. Bass of Norfolk, Virginia, Clarence Lee Bass of Dunn and Luther Howard Bass of Hampton, Va.; two daughtgers, Mrs. Ida Mae Porter and Mrs. D. C. Stewart, both of Dunn, Route 4; one sister, Mrs. Henry Norris of Dunn, Route 4, and several grandchildren.
