  Notes	Oakland Tribune, 2 November 1903, Page 8 Mamie Bassett Sudden Death Of Little Girl Mamie Bassett Of Fruitvale Taken Away Quickly By Diphtheria Fruitvale, November 2, Miss Mamie Bassett, age 15, died suddenly at her home on Fruitvale avenue early Saturday morning of diphtheria. She was buried in the afternoon, the funeral being private. The physician announced the trouble a sore throat. A consultation was held Friday night but it was too late. The girl was strong and healthy appearing and her sudden death came as a great shock to her parents and friends.
