Barbara H. O?Connell
Barbara H. O'Connell, age 85, of Stratford, beloved wife of Thomas L. O'Connell, died on Monday, September 25, 2017 at Bridgeport Hospital.
Barbara was born in Bridgeport to the late Eugene M. and Eleanor (Bassett) Hope and was raised in Fairfield. She graduated from St. Ann School and Ludlowe High School. She was very proud of her Fairfield roots. Barbara was a Mayflower descendant of Edward Doty.
Mrs. O'Connell was a devoted, loving and proud wife, mother and grandmother. She had been a Girl Scout leader for many years while raising her family. She had worked as a teller at People's Bank and Connecticut National Bank. Barbara was a member of the Gaelic American Club of Fairfield. She had a strong connection to Cape Cod, especially Provincetown, where she met her husband. While vacationing in Provincetown, you could always find Barbara sitting on her special bench enjoying herself.
The family would like to acknowledge the wonderful staff at Bridgeport Hospital for all of their care and compassion. Also, to the family and friends who have offered them support. Your many kindnesses have not gone unnoticed. Thank you.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two loving daughters, Maeve O'Connell Brasa and her husband, Kenneth, of East Hartford and Kerry O'Connell Quinn of Stratford; son-in-law, Jeffrey Albright of Milford; eight grandchildren, Jacqueline, Caroline and Elizabeth Brasa, Danny and Matthew Quinn and Alec, David and Erin Albright; sister-in-law, Micheline Hope of Shelton: and many nieces and nephews.
