      John Minge Dunlop


      John Minge Dunlop, 76, founder of Greenleaf Dairy Corp., died this morning at Medical College of Virginia after a long illness. Mr. Dunlop was the son of the late David Dunlop, Jr. and Lena Bartlett Davis and a direct descendant of Benjamin Harrison, the signer of Berkeley Plantation. Mr. Dunlop was chairman of the Board and Treasurer of the Greenleaf Dairy Corp., which he founded in 1934. It is the largest independent processor of dairy products in the Southside area. he was also President of Ellerslie, Inc., a real estate development corporation. he was educated at the Episcopal High School, Alexandria, Yale University and The University of Virginia. In 1927, while a student at Yale, he enlisted in the Navy and was commissioned at Pensacola as a Flight Officer, Naval Aviation. After the war, he earned his Bachelor of Science Degree, Class of 1921. He was a member of Phi Kappa Sigma Fraternity and was on the University?s wrestling team. Mr. Dunlop was a member of St. Paul?s Episcopal Church, Petersburg, and helped to establish St. Michael?s Protestant Episcopal Church in Colonial Heights of which he was a Trustee and had served as a Vestryman for many years. He was a member of the Jefferson Society and a life member of the Association for the Preservation of Virginia Antiquities. He was a former member of the Petersburg Country Club, The Country Club of Virgini, The Commonwealth Club of Virginia, The Commonwealth Club of Richmond and the Yale Club, New York City. Surviving are his widow, the former Nanette B. Ford, Richmond and a daughter Miss Bartlett Dunlop, Ellerslie Farm. Funeral services will be at 4 P.M. Wednesday in St. Michael?s Episcopal Church, Colonial Heights. Burial will be in Blandford Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Surgical Oncology Fund for Cancer Research, Medical College of Virginia.
