Annette L. Bassett, of Springfield, passed away December 19th at 80 years of age, from a fall. She was born November 7, 1936 to Marion and Hazel (Keith) Heinz in Burns, Oregon.
She attended schools in Reedsport, Oregon. She married James (Jim) Bassett on December 12, 1959 in Eugene; they were married for 57 years. She worked at the University of Oregon for 17 years, retiring in 2003. She started Square Dancing in 1983, and sashaying on the floor was a main part of her life. She gained many friends and traveled to different destinations, including cruises with her square dance friends. She enjoyed her winters by being a Snowbird in Yuma, AZ; camping at the family cabin; and 4th of July family beach vacations.
She is survived by her husband, Jim Bassett, of Springfield; two children: Robert Bassett (Juanita) of Springfield, and Terri Fackrell (Lonnie) of Springfield; her sister, Genee Heinz, of Eugene; her 6 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, January 7th at Northwood Christian Church, 2425 Harvest Lane, Springfield (just off Hayden Bridge Road) at 3 PM. Reception to follow in the Fellowship Hall at the Church.
