Norman M. Bass
BASS, Sr., Norman M. (Bud), 71 of Springfield, passed away Friday March 11, 2011 at 5:35 P.M. in his residence. He was born April 29, 1939 in Yellow Springs, Ohio the son of Marcellus F. and Helen Ann (Gudgel) Bass. He was retired from Q3 JMC Industries in Urbana, where he was a Sales Manager. He was a volunteer coach of youth athletics for many years and had received many accolades for his community service through out the years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Yellow Springs. Mr. Bass is survived by his loving family, including his devoted wife of 51 years, Irma (Galloway) Bass. Three sons, Norman (Janet) Bass Jr. of New Concord, Ohio; M. Trent (Carol) Bass of Urbana, Ohio and Mark (Kim) Bass Sr. of Troy, Ohio. One daughter, Cheryl (William) Alston of Springfield. 16 grandchildren. 5 great grandchildren. Several aunts, one uncle and a host cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Vercenia "Cennie" Bass-Vance. Visitation will be held Thursday March 17th after 4:00 P.M. in the First Baptist Church 600 Dayton Street, Yellow Springs, Ohio where his family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. until time of services at 7:00 P.M. with Pastor Vurn O. Mullins, officiating. Interment will be held Friday at 10:00 A.M. in Glen Forest Cemetery, Yellow Springs. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to Community Mercy Hospice 44 W. Harding Rd. Springfield, 45504 (390-9665) Arrangements are entrusted to the D.B. Washington Funeral Home, Chapel of Peace 1530 S.
