Micahel Ray Bass
Michael Ray Bass, of Tar Heel passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, March 12, 2023 at the age of 54. He was born in Robeson County on November 6, 1968, to the late Von Shepard Bass and Faye Surles Bass. He is survived by his sister, Rhonda Hodge and husband Phillip of Tar Heel, nephew Samuel Hodge of Elizabethtown and his best friend Ben Ward.
Michael was a dedicated brother and friend. He loved his family and was there for them anytime they needed him. He grew up in Bladen County and worked for Smithfield Foods. When not working, he spent a lot of time outdoors whether on the Cape Fear River, hunting, fishing, or in his herb garden. He had a love of Mt. Dew, Moonshine, and music. Michael enjoyed talking with folks especially on the CB radio and was known to most as "Dirt Road". His devotion to others and his love of life will be dearly missed.
The family will hold a private service.
